Another edition of Race for the Cure® – the biggest sporting event in Europe helping women suffering from breast cancer – took place in Hevellianum Centre in Gdańsk on 26 September. As many as 245 participants and 17 teams took part in this year’s walk and run, which we supported being one of the sponsors and co-financing its organisation.
Race for the Cure® focuses its activities on women’s health. Thanks to obtained funds, it supports organisations and hospitals in different parts of Europe in fighting breast cancer and educates about cancer prevention.
The organiser and the beneficiary of this year’s edition of the event was OmeaLife Foundation, whose motto is “Breast cancer does not limit you”. The foundation successfully encouraged both those suffering from breast cancer as well as the ones who wanted to show their solidarity and support to participate in the event and promote healthy lifestyle. JohnnyBros engaged in the organisation of the action, supporting financially this year’s edition and therefore becoming one of its sponsors.
The run took place on 26 September in Gdańsk, but many people from different parts of Poland joined the event remotely – during the two weeks at the end of September and the beginning of October, volunteers could sign up online and participate by running or walking in their hometown. In case of both options, the participants could take part in the event individually or in groups. In total, 17 teams were created and 245 volunteers participated in the walk or the run, which resulted in the donation of €3480 to the foundation’s account to support women fighting breast cancer. Since it was established, Race for the Cure® has collected more than €500 000, engaging around 50 000 participants in helping women suffering from breast cancer during 54 running events around Europe.
