The second edition of the Software Developers’ Olympics – Just Join Olympics took place on 3 September 2021! Apart from the competition in different disciplines, the event was a great opportunity to participate in charity activities, which we encouraged, together with the Hospice Foundation supporting Father E. Dutkiewicz SAC Hospice in Gdańsk.
The intense competition during Software Developers’ Olympics, which took place at the beginning of September at the Forest Stadium in Sopot, is behind us. Almost 350 participants from 31 companies took part in the contest, competing in different sports disciplines, such as “Hard Disc Throw”, “Monitor Shot Put”, “Olympic Scrum” or “Keyboard Assembly”. Our colleague, Artur Tomasik, took third place in the general classification.
The sporting event was not only an opportunity to compete with other companies and do professional networking. It is worth mentioning that the organisers of the Olympics decided to donate 10% of the income from each ticket to @Hakersi - a national community which supports children in need to become more independent by teaching them how to use new technologies and develop digital competencies.
For us, the event was also a chance to promote our friends from the Hospice Foundation in Gdańsk. In our JohnnyBros tent, the volunteers from the Foundation could talk about their activities, collect funds from generous donors, for example by selling gadgets, as well as treat the visitors with popcorn and sweets. Moreover, the visitors of our stand had a chance to play an iconic computer game, Deluxe Ski Jump, which was very popular when Adam Małysz was a ski jumping champion. We prepared a special award for the winner of this computer game contest – a trip to Zakopane to watch the ski jumping championship organised there.
Thanks to our IT friends, once again, the cooperation of JohnnyBros and the Hospice Foundation was successful! #WeAreTheTeam
